- Ward round at 0800, then ED cover and outpatients as needed

- 0830-1730 in GP clinic
- Provide support to ED and the hospital doctor when required

- 1 in 2 on-call shared between doctors
- RSQ Telehealth handles Cat 3–5 overnight
- Doctor is recalled for Cat 1–2 or escalation

All doctors receive a local induction on arrival from the Director of Nursing. This includes:

Inpatient Unit
• 10 acute beds
• Primarily elderly and subacute patients

• Morning ward round followed by ED/outpatients as needed

• Pathology collected daily and sent to Rockhampton
• No CT or ultrasound on site
GP Clinic (usual setup)
• Run by the two GP doctors
• Supports ED and hospital doctor when needed
Complexities, inpatients, and ED presentations
Mount Morgan sees a typical rural Queensland case mix, including:
• General medicine
• Elderly, frail patients with multiple comorbidities
• Minor trauma and injuries
• Respiratory illness
• Acute presentations requiring stabilisation
• Mental health
• Palliative episodes
• Paediatric illness (low to moderate complexity)
Typical volume: 5–7 patients on a quiet day, up to ~15 on a busier day
Higher-level and resuscitation cases (Category 1–2) are stabilised then transferred to Rockhampton via a well-rehearsed pathway.

• ED-capable, triage-trained RNs and CNS staff
